Wisslax Spring Lacrosse Information
Wisslax Boys Lacrosse Club is a spring sport with practices starting in mid-March and games running through the first week of June. Our club is broken into two parts: Intramural lacrosse (1st – 4th grade) and Southeastern PA Youth Lacrosse Association league games (Regional travel programs 3rd-8th grade).
Our goal is to teach the game of lacrosse through fun, fast paced practice sessions to learn and build on fundamental lacrosse skills that can be used at all levels. Many of our lacrosse players start in 1st grade, but we have new players join at every level through 8th grade usually because their friends play and they want to experience the “fastest game on two feet.”
Our model is based on what many of the largest and most successful township programs in the country have found to be the most successful: Learn the basic skills and team concepts by integrating players of all skill levels at the youngest levels to help everyone understand how the game is played as they grow into the competitive league play.
- 1st-2nd grade practices once per week, usually Wednesdays, with a scrimmage on Saturday mornings against neighboring townships.
- 3rd-4th grade practices at least once per week, at most twice, with a scrimmage on Saturday mornings against neighboring townships.
- League teams (3rd & 4th, 5th & 6th, 7th & 8th grades) practice at least once per week, usually twice with a league game mostly scheduled on Saturdays that could travel within Montgomery and Bucks counties. There are playoffs for some teams and rosters will be determined by league boundaries (residents of Wissahickon School District, Norristown School District players are all eligible to play). Wisslax has multiple teams at each grade level and rosters will be determined based on evaluations of skill. Note 3rd/4th is additional to Intramurals and will have both the Intramural schedule and travel schedule. We field 1 team at this division.
- Most practices are held at the Lower Gwynedd Elementary/Administration fields with Intramural games at Wissahickon Middle School and League home games at Penllyn Woods fields in Lower Gwynedd.
