Wisslax 1st - 4th Grade Intramural Program

Wisslax 1st-4th grade Intramural program is designed for learning fundamental lacrosse skills that will be used at all levels of lacrosse.

Practices are structured to work one or two skills in stations. Most stations work individual skills that can easily be transferred into team settings. Teams are broken into equal abilities and all kids will have opportunities to play.

In the spring, we scrimmage neighboring township teams on Saturday mornings. Fall/Spring Jerseys will be provided as part of registration.

1st & 2nd Grade IM Program

Wisslax Boys can start as early as 1st grade. The age groups of 1st/2nd are designed to have boys with similar abilities learn the game of lacrosse from the beginning.

Scooping, passing, catching, cradling, shooting, moving with and without the ball, and learning the positions of a short field game are all skills acquired at this age.

Coaches work with boys in small groups with station work prior to a nightly mini-scrimmage.

The main season is Spring with one practice each week and a scrimmage on Saturday mornings against neighboring township programs.

Fall and winter programs are available as well.

3rd & 4th Grade IM Program

The 3/4 Program is the age where boys start to develop more complex athletic skills and will start to apply them to the game.

Play gets faster, decision-making in relation to team concepts is taught, and coaching challenges those that are advanced. We will still have a lot of players new to the sport at this age and we will continue to teach and stress the basic fundamentals of lacrosse to those who are new and reinforce to those who are developing.

Teams will typically be split by ability. Practices will be skill station based usually followed by a scrimmage. Saturday mornings 6 v 6 the teams will have scrimmages against neighboring townships. The main season is March through May.

Fall and Winter programs may be available as well.

Wisslax SEPYLA Travel Program

All Wisslax 3rd - 4th graders will play for the IM program and then have the opporunity to tryout for a travel team. There is only one travel team at this age group

All Wisslax 5th - 8th graders, will all play for a SEPYLA travel team in the Spring. Starting in 5th grade and depending on the number of boys participating we can field up to 3 teams per age group. These teams will compete against local teams of similar skill sets.

3rd & 4th Grade SEPYLA Travel "C"

The 3/4 "C" Team is our youngest available 10v10 SEPYLA Travel team. Evaluations will be held between February and early March prior to league roster submissions. Teams usually consist of 17 players a nd a Goalie.

If selected, there may be an additional practice and 1 additional game per week. All "C" Team Travel Travel players MUST play IM.

This team competes in a full-field game within a league-based travel schedule (Montgomery and Bucks county).

Skills taught are more team-based while still stressing basic lacrosse fundamentals. More emphasis is put on team play with some basic offense and defensive strategies taught to the boys.

5th & 6th Grade SEPYLA Travel "B"

Wisslax participates in the SEPYLA regional league and our teams will play games mostly in Montgomery and Bucks County. Teams will likely practice in the spring 2 nights per week with 1 game on Saturdays (March through May).

Depending on the number of registered players Wisslax will field 1-3 teams that are rostered based on ability through evaluations. Evaluations will be held between February and early March prior to league roster submissions.

There is a potential for boys who are rostered on lower level teams to move up and play on a higher level team throughout the season. Those on higher level teams can not play down. Skills taught at this age are lacrosse fundamentals, field awareness, team concepts, as well as introductions to offensive and defensive sets, man up, man down, clears, and rides.

Boys are encouraged to take leadership roles to help manage the game from the field as well. While the competition increases based on the level, the bottom line is we encourage fun and learning for boys of all skill levels.

7th & 8th Grade SEPYLA Travel "A"

There is a potential for boys who are rostered on lower level teams to move up and play on a higher level team. Those on higher level teams can not play down. Skills taught at this age are lacrosse fundamentals, field awareness, team concepts, higher level offensive and defensive sets and plays, man up, man down, clears, and rides.
